The housing market is relatively relaxed. It is easier to nd a house in this region then elsewhere in the Netherlands. Either in the city center, close to bars, restaurants and movie theaters, or in the surrounding countryside.
Also, housing costs are significantly lower. Houses in the Northern Netherlands for instance are generally more spacious and on average prised favorably than those in the western part of the Netherlands:
- Crime rates are low, people feel safe
- Roads are relatively uncongested, so there won’t be a daily traffic jam on the way to work
- The air is clean, pollution levels are low
- The Northern Netherlands offer a wide range of cultural facilities
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The region provides a wide range of education and training facilities. Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Hanzehogeschool o er higher, scientific and postgraduate education. The Energy Academy Europe is an international center of excellence in energy education and technical vocational education is provided by the Energy College. The number of university graduates of the total Dutch population between 15 and 65 years is 1,034,000.

EnTranCe is the hotspot of applied sciences for businesses and innovations. It has the facilities, technologies and the best possible network to develop plans into the energy products and services the energy market demands.
At present, the University is working closely with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen in the Zernike Advanced Processing (ZAP) Facility. This research and education centre looks into ways of making new products from food, food waste or biomass.
